U12 Development
ABOUT
The U12 Development program is for children aged 10-11 years old (as of Dec 31, 2026) who want to be physically active, develop their skills on skis, and spend time with friends while participating in a variety of ski-related and outdoor activities.
The program consists of two parts: i) dry-land activities and ii) ski sessions.
Dry-land sessions
Dry-land sessions focus on developing the fitness, strength, and endurance needed for the ski season ahead in a fun, peer-supported, social environment. Activities include trail running, hiking, orienteering, games, relays, and fitness stations. A highlight is an overnight adventure in the fall.
Ski sessions
The ski sessions focus on fitness, challenge, fun, and gaining competency in classic and skate techniques. Athletes will develop ski skills, balance, and agility to prepare them for competition, as well as challenging distance adventures. All this will be learned through group-oriented games and activities while exploring the Gatineau Park.
Athletes will have the opportunity to experience all things skiing including backcountry, long-distance skis, the fun of racing, and a cabin ski for grilled cheese. All athletes will be invited to participate in the Norams weekend away.
