U10 Development
ABOUT
The U10 Development program is for children aged 8-9 (as of Dec 31, 2026) who want to improve their skiing, have fun with friends and be physically active outdoors.
This is the perfect transition from Jackrabbits and a great introduction to all aspects of cross-country skiing.
The program consists of two parts: i) dry-land activities and ii) ski sessions.
Dry-land sessions
These sessions will focus on fun activities used to improve fitness, learn new skills, and foster group cohesion and friendships while exploring the Gatineau Park. Activities include hiking, games, trail running, orienteering, and scavenger hunts. These sessions will help athletes to prepare and be ready for the ski season ahead.
Ski sessions
The on-snow sessions build on the fitness and friendships fostered in the fall. Games and playful drills will help develop technique in classic and skate skiing disciplines. Longer ski adventures will build endurance and resilience while being physically active.
The young athletes will have the opportunity to participate in some local races, experience the wonders of the backcountry in the Gatineau Park and improve their taste buds at the Cookie Beiner!
Highlights include skiing to a cabin for grilled cheese over the fire and the U10 sleep-over.
