National Capital Biathlon
About
In 2026, Chelsea Nordiq is forming a new training group for both post secondary aged athletes as well as athletes of any age living outside of the National Capital area looking to continue their high performance pursuits in biathlon. The National Capital Biathlon (NCB) program will be based out of Camp Fortune Range and coached by our head coach, Dave Bradley. We will be a full service program training both skiing and shooting, as well as providing year round training plans and analysis.
In-Person Program (National Capital Area-Based Athletes)
The program will deliver:
A customized annual training plan for each athlete, integrating shooting, skiing, strength, fitness, and mental performance development
Four coached sessions per week, focused on key technical and performance areas
Ongoing performance tracking and evaluation across core development metrics
Flexible weekly planning, co-developed with athletes to align with academic and professional schedules, and build independence into the athletes
Supplemental access to range, including independent range sessions during other biathlon programs such as HP or Senior Dev. Athletes receive a ‘zero’ but not formal coaching
Weekly one-on-one coaching sessions (30 minutes per athlete), tailored to individual needs (e.g., technical analysis, SCATT, performance review, race debrief etc…)
Training sessions will include a combination of:
Integrated sessions with existing High Performance (HP) groups
Dedicated sessions structured to accommodate diverse athlete schedules
This model emphasizes shared accountability, encouraging athletes to take an active role in their development while maintaining access to high-quality coaching support.
Virtual Hybrid Program (Athletes based outside of area)
To expand reach and support athlete retention across the Eastern Region, a virtual hybrid program will be offered to athletes remaining within their home clubs (ex: Highlands, La Pursuite, etc.)
Key elements include:
Access to customized annual and weekly training plans, aligned with the in-person program
Virtual coaching support, including structured check-ins and performance reviews
Ongoing video analysis and feedback for shooting and skiing technique
Participation in 3–4 in-person training sessions per month in the NCD/Chelsea Biathlon
Attendance at Chelsea Biathlon training camps (excluding travel and accommodation costs)
This hybrid model enables athletes to maintain local affiliations while accessing a higher level of structured training and coaching.
Collaboration and Integration
The program will seek to collaborate with regional ski clubs and university teams to:
Increase training group size and quality
Provide athletes with additional training partners
Enhance overall program integration within the regional sport ecosystem
Where feasible, this integration will be pursued at no additional cost to athletes.
