Adventure Rabbits U12

ABOUT

The Adventure Rabbits U12 program is for children aged 10-11 (as at Dec. 31, 2024) who want to be active, have fun, improve their skiing and enjoy the great outdoors.

The program consists of two parts: i) dry-land activities and ii) ski sessions

Dry-land sessions

An excellent way to develop fitness, experience a variety of activities, learn new skills and have fun in the outdoors with friends. Activities include: hiking, games, trail running, orienteering, biking, geocaching etc…. A highlight is a local overnight excursion in the fall.

Ski sessions

The on-snow sessions focus on fitness and fun as the young skiers explore the Gatineau Park with friends, old and new. The program develops technique and endurance in classic, skate and backcountry skiing disciplines.

Highlights include the Cookie Beiner, our mini-CSM challenge and an overnight or weekend excursion.

FAQ

  • Your child should have completed the U10 Mini-Adventure or U10 Race program. Or, they should have completed Jackrabbit level 3 or 4; and have developed basic classic and skate skiing technique.

If not, please register your child in our Youth learn to ski program. For questions about program choice, please contact us.

  • The program starts September 25 and finishes mid-end March (dependent on snow coverage). There are two sessions per week: Wednesdays 6:30-7:45pm and Saturdays 9:15-11:15am. The majority of sessions take place in the Gatineau Park.

  • Parent volunteers lead the sessions, helped by our amazing youth coaches. Parents will be fully supported by our Adventure board director, other experienced Adventure coaches and our Head Coach.

Please contact us if you are interested in being an Adventure coach. It is a great way to get involved with the club and highly rewarding.

  • Dry-land: active wear, waterproof jacket, fanny pack, headlamp, running shoes

On-snow: skis, poles and boots appropriate for their height, weight and skill level. It is recommended that participants have equipment for both classic and skate skiing.

We will discuss ski equipment during our parent meeting, for those who need help and advice.

  • The program cost for the 2024-25 season is $290.

Additionally, all registrants must be affiliated with the Division/Nordiq Canada ($32.00) and purchase a Family or Individual Chelsea Nordiq Club Membership.
