ABOUT

The Intro/Rec program is for new or returning athletes aged 13 and older who are looking to either try biathlon or continue to train in biathlon at a recreational level.  All athletes will train on laser rifles provided by the club.The program is designed to help develop and advance shooting abilities and is directed at those who are looking to train on a regular basis and perhaps compete at the local and provincial level (or not compete at all).

This program is built around 1 session of live shooting per week at the range. The focus of instruction will be on biathlon shooting, we ask that participants have at least a basic level of skiing ability.

The building of biathlon skills will take place in 4 weekly training sessions with the January session starting early January, and the February session starting in early February. Training sessions will run Sunday (9:30-11am).

This program will use laser rifles that will be provided by the club as part of the program fee.

Mandatory external memberships:

  • “Learn to” Individual or Family Club Membership

  • Biathlon Canada membership (register first with Biathlon Canada. Have your membership # handy for Chelsea Nordiq biathlon registration)

  • Quebec Biathlon Federation (FQB) or Biathlon Ontario (BiON) membership (select your province of residence during Biathlon Canada registration)

FAQ

  • No biathlon experience required. Registration in a nordic ski program is beneficial.

  • Sessions are Sunday 9:30 - 11:00 am at Larrimac Golf Course 148 Route 105, Chelsea. It is strongly recommended to car pool to Larrimac as parking is limited.

  • Sessions are led by trained coaches.

  • Active wear, skate skis, skate boots, poles, gloves, tuque.

  • The cost for the program is $135. Register here.

    Additionally, all registrants must purchase a Family or “Learn to” Club Membership, and Biathlon Canada Membership ($15 to $85, depending on category).
