Black Bears

ABOUT

The Black Bears program is for athletes 10-13 years old who have no biathlon experience and wish to build basic biathlon skills. Athletes are invited (but not required) to compete in local races organized by the club, however, the focus of the program is on fun and learning skills, not competing.

Chelsea Nordiq will provide laser rifles for this group to train on.

We will split the season into two sessions (fall and winter) so athletes can choose to do either one of the sessions, or both sessions.  This enables athletes to start later in the season or explore other activities should they choose.

The building of biathlon skills will take place in weekly training sessions with the Fall session starting in late September, and the Winter session starting in early January. Training sessions will run Sunday afternoons.

Some ski instruction will be provided, however athletes are encouraged to be registered in a ski training group either within Chelsea Nordiq or another ski club.

Location Note: The fall session will take at the Biathlon Range at Camp Fortune. Winter session will take place at Larrimac Golf Course.
